Dedicated to Lord Shiva who is worshipped as Bhootpati or Bhootnath in Dakshina Bharat, the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams are the five temples each representing a manifestation of the five prime elements of nature: prithvi, jal, agni, vayu, and, aakash. The temples are located in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu where four shrines are situated and one in Andhra Pradesh. These five elements which form the basis of this universe and every creation, are believed to be enshrined in the five lingams of the temples.
