Bhuteshwar Temple, Haryana

About the Temple :

Devoted to Lord Shiva, Bhuteshwar Temple is located in Jind, Haryana. As per the locals, the monarch of the Jind neighborhood, Raghbir Singh constructed this sanctuary, which is known as the Bhuteshwar Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is encircled by a large water tank and hence Bhuteshwar Temple is also known as Rani Talab. The main idol of Bhuteshwar sanctuary is an icon of Lord Shiva. It’s a unique and unconventional idol since it’s constructed from the white headstone and the hero of the deity has a mortal face. Apart from that, the golden coloured trident stands beside the deity.

Temple History :

Bhuteshwar sanctuary was built by the king of the Jind area, Raghbir Singh. The sanctuary is a splendid illustration of the design greatness of old period. The architecture and plan of the sanctuary appear to be like that of Golden Temple of Amritsar. Bhuteshwar sanctuary remains in the core of a pond or a lake. The sanctuary resembles a flawless image of a blossom in a lake. The lake is known as Rani Talab or the pool of the sovereign which has hallowed water. Devotees take a holy dip prior to taking the blessings of Bhuteshwar Mahadev.

There is an intriguing story behind the name Rani Talab. The queen of Maharaja Raghbir Singh used to bath in this lake consistently. Consequently, it is known as Rani Talab. The queen would arrive at the lake through a passage which is as yet present. Another renowned old stories expresses that the reason for developing the lake was to give an appropriate bathing spot to the queens of the lord.

Festivals and Celebrations :

The festival of Maha Shivaratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Lakhs of pilgrims and devotees visit this temple. Many other festivals like Karthik Pournima, Navratri and Diwali are celebrated with great devotion.
