Bahula Devi Mandir (Shakti Peeth)

Bahula Shaktipeeth is located in Ketugram village on the banks of Ajay river, at about 145 kilometers from Howrah, near Katwa Junction in Bardhaman district of West Bengal. According to Sanatan Manyata (beliefs), the left arm of Mata Sati fell here, thus revered as Bahula Shaktipeeth.

Devi is here in the form of Shakti Bahula with her sons Kartikeya and Ganesha, and Baba Bhairav as Bhiruka. The temple is splendid during the festivals of Navratri and Mahashivratri. Bahula is derived from the Sanskrit words, either ‘Bahu’ meaning arm or ‘Bahula’ meaning prosperity, prosperity that Devi has brought here. People believe that no one has ever returned empty-handed from the door of the Goddess Bahula.

Other places of worship nearby are the Kokaleshwari Kali Temple, the Shiva Temple, and a Sikh Gurudwara. You can also visit Meghnad Saha Planetarium or the Raman Bagan, which is a deer park.
